Seamless transition, excellent results

The transition from traditional PMR to HAMR is seamless. Seagate applied the testing process from PMR to HAMR and added specific tests for HAMR. Mozaic 3+ drives are backward-compatible with the latest PMR drives and can be plug-and-play without changing form factors, enterprise-class specifications or warranties. The difference is that the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the Mozaic 3+ solution is significantly reduced.

Hard disk life extension

Rigorous field stress testing has confirmed a head life of more than seven years, which basically exceeds the life of current PMR drives and most customer expectations. While many customers expect the typical life of today's PMR drives to be four to five years (with an average number of reads and writes during that time), internal testing has proven that Seagate's HAMR-based Mozaic 3+ drives last longer.
