Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX), a leading innovator in massive data storage solutions, today released its annual environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, Sustainable Data Circle: ESG Report for Fiscal Year 2023. This is Seagate's 18th annual report, which highlights Seagate's progress in building a sustainable, inclusive and ethical data sphere in fiscal year 2023, including an update on Seagate's progress toward its renewable energy and carbon neutrality goals.
Seagate plans to use 100 percent renewable energy to power its manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facilities by 2030. In this regard, Seagate has made great progress. In fiscal 2023, more than 50 percent of Seagate's energy consumption came from renewable sources. Seagate's facilities in China, Thailand and Northern Ireland are powered by 100% renewable energy. Seagate remains committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040.

In addition, in fiscal 2023, Seagate extended the life of approximately 1.19 million mechanical and solid-state drives through its cycle program. By refurbishing and redeploying these hard drives, Seagate prevented more than 553 metric tons of e-waste from going to landfill1.1。

Protect the earth
Approximately 33,600 MWH of electricity saved through improved operational efficiency.
Level 2 emissions from market-based operations decreased from approximately 749,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in 2021 Natural Year to approximately 288,000 metric tons in 2022 natural year due to the use of partially offset renewable energy credits (REC).
Through efficient processes and the use of recycled water, a total of about 3,700 trillion litres of water was recovered.
